How to Get to Coron Palawan from Manila
Flying from Manila to Coron is around an hour and you will arrive at Busuanga island. From Busuanga airport to Coron town, you have to travel by land. Busuanga airport is also known as Francisco B. Reyes airport. Depending on where you are staying, land travel can take about 45 minutes to an hour. If you avail any Coron tour package or book any resorts in Coron Palawan, transfer to and fro the airport is usually included.
Where to Stay in Coron
The first time I visited Palawan in 2012, our Coron accommodation was at the budget space named Coron Village Lodge which I would say was truly bang for the buck. If you're looking for the best place to stay in Coron with a modest price, you can't go wrong with the said lodge.
Despite the province already making a buzz in the travel scene during these days, there were still not so many options for Coron Palawan resorts. So if you'll search for where to stay in Coron at the time, lodges and inns are your choices, not to mention that they are really affordable.
A few years later, The Funny Lion came into the scene.
About The Funny Lion
Established in 2014, The Funny Lion can be reached 30 minutes from Busuanga airport. It was developed by the same group behind the beautiful Amorita Resort in Bohol – One-of Collection. Amusing as its name sounds, The Funny Lion derived its name from the nearby Calauit Safari Park. Quietly located in Sitio Jolo, it is where to stay in Coron if you need a bit of seclusion from the busy town center.
During the Travel Blog Exchange (TBEX) Asia, I was able to visit Coron again and we stayed at The Funny Lion.

The Funny Lion: Accommodations
Upon arrival, the warm staff welcomed and assisted us with our belongings as they led each member of our group to our respective rooms. The Funny Lion is where to stay in Coron if you like a modern and chill atmosphere.
Staying solo during the conference in their Pride room was more than a delight for me. Simply cozy – this was how I remember my Funny Lion experience. Minimalist, elegant, and spacious – the Pride room was definitely my type of space. The earth tone scheme was accentuated by wooden furniture.
The Funny Lion's Pride Room amenities included provision for the following: one king-size bed, air-condition, LED TV, desk and chair, coffee maker, safety deposit box, refrigerator, and complimentary drinks. I also liked how a full-length mirror decorated the wall.

The huge bathroom was also beautiful that followed the room's earth tone scheme. Hot and cold shower was available with complete toiletries and hair dryer.

The Funny Lion: Swimming Pool
From my window, I had a relaxing view of the swimming pool.
Surrounded by pool lounge chairs, the pool looked really inviting. The sight of the trees at the far end of the pool was also calming to see as it added that nature feels to the modern ambiance of the resort.

The Funny Lion Restaurant
The Funny Lion also has its own dining place, the Hunt restaurant. We were served here with a plated lunch meal during our arrival. From the appetizer to the dessert, the food was meticulously presented, even the humble yet delicious, grape-like seaweed, "lato". As good as it looked, the food also tasted great.
The Hunt restaurant offers vegan menu as well. They also had this special Tagbanua coffee originally produced by the Tagbanua tribe. The coffee lover in me was definitely rejoicing when I got to try it. It was one of the best brews I ever had. For our breakfast the next day, we enjoyed a simple buffet meal.

Overall
I was really happy to be back in Coron after four years and it was an amazing return with The Funny Lion warmly accommodating us. The modern, cozy, and intimate atmosphere of the place will certainly give you the vacation you deserve. The great food with the discovery of the Tagbanua coffee was also a treat.
I would also like to commend the sweet, simple gesture they give to their guests by giving a printed welcome note addressed to your name that came with some fruits, delectable cookies, and a pouch of my favorite Tagbanua coffee.
